1/9/2023 – a haiku

On January 9, 2023December 30, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

The words of others
Swirl in a storm of bold type
In this dreaming head

1/7/2023 – your nearness

On January 7, 2023December 30, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

A gladness unbidden
Invades my heart
With your nearness

1/6/2023 – a haiku

On January 6, 2023December 30, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Sit here beside me
Run your fingers through my hair
Let me feel you there

1/5/2023 – life’s breath

On January 5, 2023December 30, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I started on a long and troubled tale
That ended with a sudden, tragic death
And so discovered stories often ail
From heartstring-tugging writ without life’s breath

1/4/2023 – it is with joy

On January 4, 2023December 30, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

It is with joy
That I face that shadow
With joy
That I walk a darkened road
With joy
That I brave the cold of winter
With joy
That I confront the unknown

1/3/2023 – a haiku

On January 3, 2023December 30, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Sing warm and bright tunes
Against the cold of winter
Let sun-music ring

1/2/2023 – the road ahead

On January 2, 2023December 30, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Let stardust fall upon the road
That I am walking on
The far-flung refuse too has strode
For long miles from some sun

So let it dust my shoulders and
Set sparks off in the air
As embers fall into my hand
And red flames lick my hair

For with the stardust I will go
With new life in my stride
The universe’s life in tow
The road ahead so wide

12/31/2022 – end/beginning

On December 31, 2022December 30, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

A fire dies, leaving embers
Given life, an ember becomes a fire

A tree dies, leaving branches
That give life themselves to the next

A star dies, leaving stardust
That with time becomes a new star

As the earth’s circle ends
A new circle forms

And we, likewise, begin again

12/30/2022 – a haiku

On December 30, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

As snow melts away
Life and death reveal themselves
Each like the other

12/29/2022 – prattling

On December 29, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

To prattle on but little say
Is ‘mong life’s greater sins
To take such sun from any day
Deserves a kick t’the shins
