When my heart proved right

Without a sound did my heart warm
To new, exciting, tender change
The likes of which did take a form
I’d not thought of before

And though it was frightful, unknown
My heart did say to rest a while:
“Let what’s been reaped so too be sown,
And love will grow yet more.”

And so years on my heart’s proved right;
Unfounded were my fears;
Its words I hear now in new light
With open, eager ears

Shadows abate

Though oft I do despair

For want of freer air

I cannot but be awed at my good luck

For when I could not see

I set my heart to thee

And no longer could chaos run amok

When I did walk alone

My heart hard as a stone

Ne’er could I have imagined such a fate

As to be bound to you

A bond so right and true

That all the shadows in my mind abate

In your eyes

Twirling, spinning, joyous dancing
All about the clouds
With you

As the sun winks out and the stars awaken
I find in your eyes
True beauty
Life

As if all the universe till that point had strived
To bring us to that moment
To fill our hearts with joy
And your eyes with light
Like the light of creation itself

The stars are ours
Our souls, a story
Far longer than
This life

I see that tale
In your
Eyes.

Sonnet 14 – Ten things

And once with furrowed brow you asked of me,
What was it made me fall in love with thee?

For one, it was the starlight in your eyes;
For two, it was the moonbeams in your hair;
For three, your copper skin in the sunrise;
(Of course what first I saw was: you are fair!)

For four, it was the music in your laugh;
For five, the way you woke my thoughtful side;
For six, you were at once my better half;
For sev’n, the way you made me smile so wide;

For eight, I felt at once alive and true;
For nine, we saw above us the same sky;
For ten, as ne’er before, with you I knew
That in this life some walk, but we would fly.

Someday I know I’ll think of more to say;
I hope these truths suffice for thee today.

Firelight

Firelight shines bright
On the face of my beloved
Outlining her softest features
Giving breath to her breath
Light to her light
As she lies there

There, her expression still
Quiet as her mind grows quiet
Worries slip away

And firelight shines upon her
Worries now are gone, her
Hair falls easily, wildly
Her breath, soft
Like the fire’s

They breathe together
Both soft as ever
One crackles, both burn
With light
So bright
