1/27/2024 – the smallest bit

On January 27, 2024January 24, 2024 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I walk between the gnarled, snow-weighted boughs
Seeking for but the smallest bit of green

1/12/2024 – a better me

On January 12, 2024January 16, 2024 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I can but be what I’ve in me to be
And yet such promise can feel unfulfilled
If I cannot listen when I am stilled
To that which could make me a better me

1/10/2024 – whispers along Time

On January 10, 2024January 16, 2024 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I was bewitched beneath the starry sky
By all the ancient stories reaching me
From places so unfathomably high
Their whispers along Time are all we see

1/2/2024 – New Year

On January 2, 2024December 27, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

As at the dawn we see the rising sun
O’er new horizons we could not foresee
But to that brightest orb we must now run
We cannot merely wait for what will be

12/29/2023 – kings and fools

On December 29, 2023December 27, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I ache for all the times and places where
The world is not so fast, not so cruel
Where I could breathe the pure and untouched air
The earth not yet undone by kings and fools

12/22/2023 – songs in the quiet

On December 23, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I owe you two again!

Untrusting of the molded walls of man
I walk amidst the tall, unspeaking trees
And in the quiet find song louder than
All choirs and bells that ride upon the breeze

12/20/2023 – all achieved in light

On December 20, 2023December 13, 2023 By adamcallahan117In UncategorizedLeave a comment

Many of us living in the earth’s northern reaches struggle at this time of year, myself included. Here’s hoping you all are well. Remember: after tomorrow, the days will grow longer again.

I walk beneath the shadowed winter sky
In search of something lost, gone with the sun
Yet naught alive or vibrant meets my eye
And all achieved in light is now undone

12/16/2023 – and be

On December 16, 2023December 13, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I long for little more than to lie down
Amidst the whistling grasses ‘neath the sun
Hidden from every ear and prying eye
Where I can watch and hear and smell and be

12/15/2023 – the busyness of business

On December 15, 2023December 13, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

The busyness of business wears on me
Its promises all fail to set me free

12/2/2023 – a promise of beyond

On December 2, 2023November 30, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I yearn for things beyond my time and place
Where wonder marked the mind of every man
Where stars and oceans made the great unknown
Horizons each a promise of beyond
