The heat’s rolling in
And bringing a stifling air
Oh, where is the wind?
6/9/2022 – inaction as action
They say light
Acts differently when observed
So that by watching
Measuring
You have changed it
Your inaction
Is action
6/8/2022 – to make the unseen seen
My thoughts wander
Through the undiscovered
And the well-trodden
And everywhere in between
And I find
Little brings me more pleasure
Than that stone unturned
That turn not taken
Not to be first
But to make the unseen seen
6/7/2022 – a haiku
The hot sands shifted
And my path through grew twisted
Toward the unknown

6/6/2022 – water’s weird enclaves
I dreamt I walked upon a lake
Whose surface was like glass
And there the water to me spake
Through my mind’s deep morass
‘Look here, beneath your toes,’ it said,
‘And wonder at what’s there
‘For you opted to make your bed
‘Away from cleaner air.’
And there beneath the surface I
Could see the rippled sand
And fishes who were wending by
So far from tempered land
And so I turned my skin to scales
And stepped beneath the waves
And there I found aboveground pales
‘Gainst water’s weird enclaves

6/4/2022 – a faraway place
I dream of being in a faraway place
Where I do not dream of faraway places
6/3/2022 – the memory of light
Swirling shadows cloud
An oft-misguided mind
The darkness so turgid
That light cannot penetrate it
And in those moments
Even the memory of light
Grows distant
6/2/2022 – a haiku
The grasses grow high
As the skies endlessly weep
And all earth turns green

6/1/2022 – the dirt that is today
The babbling brook that runs along
The road that I call home
Does often sing a quiet song
When it thinks it’s alone
It sings of saplings growing there
Upon the river’s bank
So too it sings of cleaner air
Before the land so stank
And though it flows out to the sea
And passes much that way
First it laments of ‘now’ to me:
The dirt that is today
5/31/2022 – a world apart
I hear the birds chirping
Their babies squeaking
In a cacophonous harmony
Over all the cacophony
Theirs is a world apart
One where chaos
Is beauty
Discord, peace
