Whatever does the lily say
When frozen ‘neath the snow?
What does it feel when bright of day
Coaxes it from below?
Whatever can it think of when
Its leaves begin to spread?
And when its petals open, then
What thinks it of its bed?

The sun is out!
The sun is out!
And so I shout
Of joy and vitamin D!
At last my gaze
Meets with sunrays
Oh, give your gladness to me!
3/8/2021 – Happy spring!
The sun is shining bright
With warm and heav’nly light
All I can do is lift my arms and breathe
The damp air smells of green
The sky is clearest blue
And at long last the winter’s chill recedes
2/26/2021 – a haiku
At last I see green
And smell coming spring’s fresh scent
And my heart lightens
Life arriving
The final days of spring
Give way to warmest sun
The buds and blossoms sing
As children laugh and run
The world becomes alive
As if awake from dreams
And so does life arrive
In reds and blues and greens
Spring (Green)
Green, green
The world smells of green
The blossoms are dewed
The buds shift along with the wind
The old flies away
The new takes its place
And the world smells of glorious green
