I walked about
And talked about
Each thought that circled my mind
And in the end
My path did bend
Though it seemed no answer could I find
I walked about
And talked about
Each thought that circled my mind
And in the end
My path did bend
Though it seemed no answer could I find
Blessed yellow light
Shining on the tops of pines
As the sun descends
Sometimes I feel I watch the world
Through glass, as if I’m separate
As if I’m not a part of it
I’ve only watched as life unfurled
Now do I walk or do I run
Toward that bright’ning, vibrant sky
Toward the rising, reddish sun
Now that the day at last is nigh?
How do I seize what’s yet to be
The destiny that lies ahead
The fate today will give to me
After the sky has turned from red?
What wondrous gifts has life today
What will I see ere day is done
Which stage is it on which I’ll play
And do I walk, or do I run?
Few pleasures sweeter
Few comforts cozier
Few luxuries greater
Than one’s own chair
By a fire
With a book
And someone you love
When your heart beats wild and free
When your hands are sweat and dirt
When your muscles grow tired and sore
When your eyes droop hot and heavy
Despair not
You are alive.
Torrential rains pouring upon
A mind already tired
I’ve often dwelt in thoughts of other times
Of other places, far away from here
Of moments distant, yet so very near
And there, my memory begins to rhyme
Why choose cruelty
When sharing kind words, a smile
Is much easier?
I want to be like the trees
Blown about, they stand
Roots deep
Branches reach wide
Wind whistling through
In all seasons they stand tall
Each year they grow
Change
Evolve
I want to be like the trees
