A shadowed path, soft green with moss
Lies there before my feet
Red trees and yellow their leaves toss
And life and death there meet
To walk upon it is to know
The truth the sages say:
‘Twixt light and shadow you must go
To throw your cares away
A shadowed path, soft green with moss
Lies there before my feet
Red trees and yellow their leaves toss
And life and death there meet
To walk upon it is to know
The truth the sages say:
‘Twixt light and shadow you must go
To throw your cares away
I listen
And you call out
I watch
And you appear
I wait
And you come
Sail off there with me
Where the stars point o’er the sea
Till dawn, and again
Though I have often fallen from
The mores that I pursue
I still seek high, and often some
Great truth comes into view
It is with great surrender that
This wisdom I receive
And oft I must remember that
‘Twill e’er be a reprieve
It is between the softest shadows
That hidden truths do hide
There will come a day
When we will hear all the grasses sing
And see all the paints upon a bright world
There will come a day
When we will feel the stories underfoot
And know by name the voices on the wind
And when that day comes
I will hold you
And you me
And we will walk as stars across the sky
I’ll wander with you
‘Round the most distant corners
Till we become lost
With sudden fire my heart alights
And fills with ancient song
To hold so close to storied sights
It runs and leaps along
Let our day be joyful
And as we take our flight
Into the bright horizon
Together let us breathe
Winter wind brings spring
The smell of blossoms on it
As sky’s blue deepens
