Jet-black rain-wet coals
Telling of a pain since passed
By minutes, or months

In secret corners
Have we hidden
Lost in visions
Of other worlds
Other times
Other us
9/29/2022 – free of earthly bond
Weeds tumble ‘cross the winding road
Beneath this starry sky
Where sweating men have their pains towed
Sweating men such as I
For at road’s end a promise lies
Of riches great beyond
For those men loyal, true, and wise
And free of earthly bond

Leaves overhead play
A dry and windy rhythm
As autumn arrives
9/27/2022 – to the beasts of earth and sky
With a little breath
You slow mine
With the peace in your eyes
You bring mine to close
With the softness of your heart
You let mine rest
As the winter is to the beasts of earth and sky
So are you
To all of me
9/26/2022 – man untied
As love surrounds me so does hate
Pervade the world outside
May close-held love alleviate
The worst of man untied

I want but to rest
To turn my back on the world
And its trappings
And its failings
And its wantings
And wrap my arms around this thing
So whole
So true
So warm
And so much greater
Than anything behind me

Lying beside you
Gazing at stars old and new
Who could wish for more?

The poets praise his godly looks
The merchants, his largesse
Politickers, his love for books
He looks to me a mess.
