Let the frost form
Out past my mind’s realm

10/1/2022 – a haiku

On October 1, 2022September 26, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Jet-black rain-wet coals
Telling of a pain since passed
By minutes, or months

9/30/2022 – other us

On September 30, 2022September 26, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

In secret corners
Have we hidden
Lost in visions
Of other worlds
Other times

Other us

9/29/2022 – free of earthly bond

On September 29, 2022September 26, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Weeds tumble ‘cross the winding road
Beneath this starry sky
Where sweating men have their pains towed
Sweating men such as I

For at road’s end a promise lies
Of riches great beyond
For those men loyal, true, and wise
And free of earthly bond

9/28/2022 – a haiku

On September 28, 2022September 26, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Leaves overhead play
A dry and windy rhythm
As autumn arrives

9/27/2022 – to the beasts of earth and sky

On September 27, 2022September 26, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

With a little breath
You slow mine
With the peace in your eyes
You bring mine to close
With the softness of your heart
You let mine rest
As the winter is to the beasts of earth and sky
So are you
To all of me

9/26/2022 – man untied

On September 26, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

As love surrounds me so does hate
Pervade the world outside
May close-held love alleviate
The worst of man untied

9/24/2022 – greater

On September 24, 2022September 15, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I want but to rest
To turn my back on the world
And its trappings
And its failings
And its wantings

And wrap my arms around this thing
So whole
So true
So warm

And so much greater
Than anything behind me

9/23/2022 – a haiku

On September 23, 2022September 15, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Lying beside you
Gazing at stars old and new
Who could wish for more?

9/22/2022 – a mess

On September 22, 2022September 15, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

The poets praise his godly looks
The merchants, his largesse
Politickers, his love for books

He looks to me a mess.
