Gone dry and cold from unbound fear and greed

8/28/2023 – a haiku
Light me by the fires
Of Mother Earth’s divine wrath
Fill me with her rage
8/26/2023 – weep
The world around me swirls with fire and smoke
And all alive is screaming for relief
While man swaggers atop what he has broken
And finds not cause enough to fall and weep
8/25/2023 – not easily
Always I wonder whether
New songs
New melodies
New symphonies
Can crowd out those in my head
And always I find
Old songs
Old melodies
Old symphonies
Not so easily forgotten
8/24/2023 – a haiku
A fog drifts over
Hides faraway lands from view
All I see is here
8/23/2023 – unbecome
A dream of flight takes hold of me
And thoughts of drifting through the sea
At one with all that’s around me
To unbecome a man and simply be
8/22/2023 – all/nothing
Noisome is the world
When the other residents
Tread heavily
Speak thoughtlessly
Act greedily
As if they are all
And the world, nothing
And peaceful is the world
Where the other residents
Tread carefully
Speak thoughtfully
Act selflessly
As if they are nothing
And the world, all
8/21/2023 – a haiku
Let me not become
That which the world would make me
A ghost of a man
8/19/2023 – death/life
Death
Sinks low
Creeps wide
Finding crevices
Reaching outward
Till it finds a place to be
And things can grasp it
And things can use it
They begin to grow
They reuse the old
Make what’s new
Till what was
Becomes
Life
8/18/2023 – forest bath
Amid the creeping boughs of cedar trees
I find a shadowed place to rest my head
Where verdant fragrances traverse the breeze
And mossy roots and vines make me a bed
