A moment
Is the briefest second
When I gaze in your eyes
Yet a moment
Is a long lifetime
When I wish it to be
A happy lifetime
With you

8/4/2023 – a life with you
A life with you
Is peaceful
Yet thrilling
Is right
Yet strange
Is fulfilling
Yet filled with a longing for the horizon
A life with you
Is sailing by the stars
Is flying through mountains
Is burrowing in the earthen warmth
In winter
A life with you
Would be a wondrous thing
Has been a perfect thing
Is everything
And more
A life with you
Will be something
Inexpressibly amazing
8/2/2023 – maelstrom
A maelstrom rages
Deep in my heart
Where swirling currents crash
And roar
8/1/2023 – horizon
I yearn for what’s beyond yon line
The one stretching along my sight
The one that reaches north to south
The one that promises me tales untold
7/29/2023 – beyond the veil
Heavy comes the rain
Hot blows the wind
Stifling is the air
Yet beyond the veil
A brighter sun
A cooler breeze
A renewed earth
7/25/2023 – candles to the sun
Your smile
A balm
Unlike any
No salve nor poultice
Of earthly mean
Could seem to teem with such
Life
As candles to the sun
Are they
7/22/2023 – before
A thought have I
Of horizons
Forgotten
Abandoned
Or turned to steel
Of forests
Trampled
Burned
Or turned to square, unbreathing shelter
Of rivers
Redirected
Dammed
Or poisoned beyond recognition
Would that I could remember them
Before
7/19/2023 – once again
When I am in shadow
You are light
When I am in cold
You are warmth
When I am in the depths
You are the hand reaching
Pulling me to safety once again
7/15/2023 – sing you
I’ll sing
I’ll sing you
All your music
All your harmonies
All your discordant tones
All your heavenly melodies
All your deepest and most somber notes
That all might know the you I know
That all might hear of you
That all might see
The you
I see
7/12/2023 – whispering
Sands call me
From arid places
Where none walk
And all that lives
Lives in shadow
And all that lived
Lies in quiet
Beneath the hot sand
Whispering
