Give me the sky

On February 23, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems1 Comment

Give me a sky
Of bright blue
With puffy clouds
A blinding sun

Give me a sky
Of deep black
With pinprick lights
A pallid moon

Give me a sky
Of dark grey
With lightning white
A heavy rain

Give me a sky
Of thick orange
With spots of red
A setting sun

Give me the sky

2/22/2021 – little symphonies

On February 22, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Little symphonies
Ever dancing ’round my head
Songs both glad and blue

See them out

On February 17, 2021August 16, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Shadows whisper secrets false
Clawing at my soul, they laugh
Gnawing at my heart, they sneer
Circling round my head, they lie.

That I may hear the truth and see them out.

2/16/21 – from nothing

On February 16, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems1 Comment

From silence grows music
From death grows life
From nothing grows all

2/15/21 – snowflakes

On February 15, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Falling from on high
Spinning in eddies of wind
Stunning
Perfect
Constructed with utmost care
Gone in a moment

Light to dark

Light to dark

It happens so quickly sometimes

Each day flowing to the next

Never slowing

Never halting

No time for a breath

2/9/21 – Drums

On February 9, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

The trees, the strings
The wind, the horns
The birds, the flutes

My heart, the drums

Heroes on a page

On February 8, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems2 Comments

Smells of ink and paper
Filling up my senses
Stories full of heroes
Fantasies and legends

Sounds of distant battles
Rage upon my eardrums
Heroes’ hellish horrors
Play across the pages

Yet there is a freedom
Hiding in these epics
Simpleness can be found
If you know to look.

To climb mountains

On February 6, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short Poems3 Comments

I want to look down

Upon rivers and forests

To climb grand mountains

As the sun shines in

On February 3, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short Poems1 Comment

As the sun shines in
I gaze out in endless awe
At the sparkling snow
