As the sun crosses the sky
And the blossoms wilt
And the seasons change
The universe exhorts:
Be unquiet
Unbound
Unfettered
Dance with Fate
She is your partner
Lift your feet from the ground
And demand
Life
Unshackled
As the sun crosses the sky
And the blossoms wilt
And the seasons change
The universe exhorts:
Be unquiet
Unbound
Unfettered
Dance with Fate
She is your partner
Lift your feet from the ground
And demand
Life
Unshackled
Desperate longing, clinging
Holding to an idea
Feeling a moment
With all senses
Heart beating in parallel
With a younger heart
Stomach turning inside out
At something remembered
Smells and tastes alight the mind
As sounds and visions scurry back
Filling the eyes and ears
With moments
Long gone
Pages that pull you in
Pages that smell new
Pages that vibrate with life
They are joy
Though we are bound by space
In this life
That space between is never far
But
Nor can it ever be crossed
Not quite
Oft do I wait for some new sign
To tell me what I want to hear
But oft’ner still it lies before
My eyes for me to see
Looking outward
One may find beauty
Excitement
Wonder
But
Looking inward
Is where we find
Purpose
Blessed rain falls
Quietly pattering
A soft percussion on a dark night
Whispering
Tickling strings or finger pads or ivories
Feeling the push and pull, the give and take
Hearing the music you can together create
The clack of plastic grates at the ears’ memory
I oft lock eyes w’the wheels of time
When they are spinning blinding fast
And all that I can do is cry,
“Slow down, slow down, slow down, slow down!”
Few pleasures sweeter
Few comforts cozier
Few luxuries greater
Than one’s own chair
By a fire
With a book
And someone you love
