Sitting by the fire
Surrounded by love (and dogs)
Now just need some tea

12/23/2021 – waking
And in the morning
I will wake
And all that had nestled
In the dark corners of my mind
Will have retreated
For a moment
12/22/2021 – dreaming
Ah, but to look
Out the window
And see
The bright horizons
I have imagined
All my life
12/21/2021 – a haiku
Hurrah for snowfall
And for the deadened echoes
That it brings along
12/16/2021
A ship without sail
A beach without waves
A tree without root
A man without his heart
Such am I, till your return
12/15/2021 – missing
I long for your arms
Soft and warm
Wrapped around me
I long for your presence
Bright
A wind in the air
Deadened when you are gone
I long for the way
The sky shines brighter
The world spins faster
The music plays louder
When you are beside me
So shall I pine for it
Till you return
12/11/2021 – tea, wind, hand
Calm
Fresh-brewed
Joy
Biting at your ears
Love
In your palm
12/9/2021 – hearth
The sky darkens
The earth cools
And all the world slows
But here
Hearths roar
Hearts quicken
Both with flames alight
Their warmth unbound
12/2/2021 – to write
A spark alights
In my mind’s eye
Of places unreal, uncreated
And that spark
Flickers into flame
As the skies and earth take shape
Ah, and those within
That world
I know their hearts
Surer than I know my own
11/27/2021 – first snow
A fair and pristine desert
Of cool white
