When does the sun rise
O’er a land shrouded in gloom
Lighting it with fire?

Have I not walked
Trodden upon the unbroken ground
For such distances
As to seem
Endless?
Have I not heard
The sounds of every end of the earth
Such symphonies
As to seem
Boundless?
Would that I had not felt
The gnawing pain of a thousand lifetimes
Such agony
As to seem
Enough for one man
But perhaps
None can be
Without the others
1/28/2022 – a haiku
I sit in wonder
At the frequencies humming
That make such music

What brightness shines in me
Is matched in the shadowed depths
For one cannot be
Without the other
1/25/2022 – a haiku
I beheld the gate
Its ageless stone and thick vines
Guarding bright wonders
1/22/2022
I can hear a distant melody
Whispering on the wind
From lands far past the horizon
Telling stories of places
And peoples
And wonders
I have not yet known
1/21/2022 – a haiku
Little do I know
Of the world beyond my own
But I can yet learn
1/19/2022 – a haiku
Without this sweet song
Playing soft notes in my head
I could scarcely breathe
1/15/2022 – a haiku
The universe sighs
Overhead, stars twinkle bright
And all moves as one
1/14/2022
At last the horizon beckons
And landfall awaits
A white shore
And high mountains
At long last, in view
