With a little breath
You slow mine
With the peace in your eyes
You bring mine to close
With the softness of your heart
You let mine rest
As the winter is to the beasts of earth and sky
So are you
To all of me

9/24/2022 – greater
I want but to rest
To turn my back on the world
And its trappings
And its failings
And its wantings
And wrap my arms around this thing
So whole
So true
So warm
And so much greater
Than anything behind me
9/21/2022 – the new beginning
Ash in the air
From a fire burning
Many miles past the horizon
Falls in my vision
Dust of the world
I can smell the ending
But so too can I sense
The new beginning
9/17/2022 – not yet uncovered
Walk with me
In places new
Where we might find
Truths not yet uncovered
By anyone else
Who might walk
There
9/14/2022 – a thousand, waiting patiently
The autumn breeze
Cools my skin
Opens my nostrils
Carries with it
The songs of a thousand beings
That wait patiently
For what comes
9/13/2022
It is with solemn gladness that
I walk into the fog
And wonder at what lies beyond
What myst’ries I might see
9/8/2022 – with you by my side
Let it be said of me
That I walked with purpose
Loved with abandon
Delved recklessly
Learned much
And learned yet more
Let it be said of me
That I lived
Fearlessly and fully
With you by my side
Better late than never, right? Better yet: I didn’t give you a poem yesterday, so you get two today!
9/7/2022 – when first you stepped there
In your footprints I step
Wondering
If the ground felt the same
When first you stepped there
9/2/2022 – comfort in storms
There is a comfort
In storms
A sudden solace
An unexpected peace
In the wrath of the heavens
Coming down upon a world
Oft undeserving of itself
8/28/2022
Stretching shadows
Along the quivering grasses
Where the birds seek the clippings
And the wildflowers poke through
There is a hidden oasis
Within an unassuming speck
Of the wide world
