Let our day be joyful
And as we take our flight
Into the bright horizon
Together let us breathe

2/10/2023 – dawn
Dawn breaks
And the birds awaken
And the boughs creak
‘Neath the wind
2/7/2023 – a wiser thing
As the last frost melts
I will harvest what grew
From the seeds
Deep in my soul
Embraced in the cold
Guided through the storms
And if the stars will it
Emerge unbitten by that frost
A wiser thing
Than I was before
2/2/2023 – grey upon grey
The grey winter
Tightens its unseen grip
Silently
Wordlessly
Enveloping all around
Until such a time
As the emergence of the sun
Would go unrecognized
1/30/2023 – lightyears
Bring that brightest starlight
That it might light the way
Toward a better future
That when the stars at last can see us
They are pleased
1/27/2023 – for what do I fret
For what do I fret
When such riches lay at my feet?
The warmth of a fire,
The smells of a hot meal,
The noises of the beasts
And the words of a lover?
For what do I fret
When all I need, I have?
1/24/2023 – none else in the world
I have but one desire
Alas that it is not mine to keep
For I make not the winds
Nor the streams
That will carry you
I make not the destinies
That the Fates
Have written for us
Yet still I shall hold to you
For there is none else in the world
For me
1/19/2023 – that wise man
Like a great standing stone
Is the wise man
Is the great man
Within me
Like the timbers
Of a ship’s hull
He braves seas
He braves storms
Yet so like the wind
Is that wise man
Is that great man
Within me
Who is ever-present
Yet ungraspable
One moment there
Then gone
1/14/2023 – speak/wisdom
To look is not to see
To hear is not to listen
To sense is not to know
Nor is to speak, to speak wisdom
1/11/2023 – only ever a part (the sea turtle)
With quiet grace
And thoughtful slowness
It rides currents
Seen without sight
As in its world
It exists with
Beside
Near
Over
Under
Never less or greater
Only ever a part
