Looking outward
One may find beauty
Excitement
Wonder
But
Looking inward
Is where we find
Purpose
Looking outward
One may find beauty
Excitement
Wonder
But
Looking inward
Is where we find
Purpose
Blessed rain falls
Quietly pattering
A soft percussion on a dark night
Whispering
Tickling strings or finger pads or ivories
Feeling the push and pull, the give and take
Hearing the music you can together create
The clack of plastic grates at the ears’ memory
Few pleasures sweeter
Few comforts cozier
Few luxuries greater
Than one’s own chair
By a fire
With a book
And someone you love
When your heart beats wild and free
When your hands are sweat and dirt
When your muscles grow tired and sore
When your eyes droop hot and heavy
Despair not
You are alive.
I want to be like the trees
Blown about, they stand
Roots deep
Branches reach wide
Wind whistling through
In all seasons they stand tall
Each year they grow
Change
Evolve
I want to be like the trees
Wind howls and bites
The ground is icy cold
There is little green
And all slumbers
But life flickers
The sun smiles
Buds peek
Ice melts
The world is set to come alive once more
Falling from on high
Spinning in eddies of wind
Stunning
Perfect
Constructed with utmost care
Gone in a moment
Light to dark
It happens so quickly sometimes
Each day flowing to the next
Never slowing
Never halting
No time for a breath
Wide and bright
Just the right
Color, the sky’s filled
Puffy clouds build
Paint the world
Colors unfurled
At the farthest edges of the sky
My spirit lifts high
