10/1/2021

On October 1, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Give me a crackling fire

The stars above

Animal sounds all round

Give me my loves

A quick-witted word

Laughter reaching high

Give me all this

And I

Will smile

By cobbled stone did I walk
In boots worn and torn
To see you there

9/25/2021

On September 25, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I see in your eyes
A reflection of me
And so much more

Such wisdom
Such strength
Such life as to inspire

And I wonder
If when you look in mine
You see the same

9/21/2021 – sweet feathers

On September 21, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Rising with the breath of the earth
Flitting through the boughs
In every hue imaginable
Sweet feathers on wings so free

Here I stand at the brink

On September 17, 2021September 16, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Here I stand at the brink
Of something greater
Something brighter
Than me

Here I stand at the precipice
Wanting to jump
Needing to

Here I stand before all
All that lies ahead
Not ahead of that behind

Now all I must do
Is leap

9/15/2021 – sweet silence

On September 15, 2021September 14, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

In my dreams there is
A world beyond the waking
One with new places
That rhyme with old

In my dreams there is
Calm
Peace, far as I can see
Where laughter reigns

In my dreams there is
Sweet, sweet silence

At least there is a box

On September 8, 2021September 7, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

There is a box
Just outside reach
In the deepest recesses of space

In the box lie secrets
Wisdom
The truth of the foundations of the universe

The box is latched
Locked
The key, lost

And the knowledge within
Unknowable

But at least there is a box

9/4/2021 – let me walk

On September 4, 2021September 2, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Let me walk
That I might smell the green grasses
Let me walk
That I might feel the sunshine
Let me walk
That I might taste the air
Let me walk
That my feet be reunited with the earth

9/2/2021 – sense

On September 2, 2021September 1, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Give us truths in stone
Give us wisdom ages old
Give us knowledge passed down
Give us tools to know wrong from right

None will matter without sense

8/28/2021 – paradox

On August 28, 2021August 27, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems1 Comment

In the wind the trees sway like always
The sky’s painted with blues and greys
The birds chirp and sing
The grasses peck at my toes
Like always

And all the while
Places worlds away
Knock, knock on my mind
And my mind and my eyes
Cannot agree
