Hoary frost coats the grasses
And a chill air bites my nose
But to see the roses bloom in your cheeks
Brings warmth to my heart

If the ground beneath us
Spoke
What would it say?
11/3/2021
What truths does the earth hold?
What bounties of tales and epics
What scars from battles long forgotten
What heartbreak, what joy?

In dreams there is a peaceful world
A quiet world
Where the heart slows
Where my mind lives free
Of the shadows that crowd my eyes
When they are open
10/25/2021
The cool air crystallizes
All around
And words grow still
Their rhythm
Arrested
But with them
The heat
Subsides
10/21/2021
Oh, but to sing of days long past
Of stories long-known
And long-forgotten
Oh, but to know them deep
In my heart
To let my soul echo
In remembrance
10/18/2021
For whom do I create?
For you, for me?
For some imagined audience
Quiet as the still night?
I think I create
For that soul
Which cannot survive without
That creation
Is that you?
Someone else?
Or some hidden part of me?
And if it is the last
How can I know him better?
10/15/2021 – a storm
Bright flashes all round
A swirling chaos
Of water
Of air
Leveling all in its wake
And in its center
A quiet, for a time
10/14/2021
So often does the wind
Change its course
And I am forced to wonder:
Do I force through?
Tack west against nature?
Or do I follow?
10/12/2021 – a world all my own
So often I see the stars
And wonder at worlds above
What we could see
What we could find
If there, above it all
There is a world
For me
Then I remember
When I look in your eyes
That right before me
Is a world all my own
