2/28/2023 – long forgotten

On February 28, 2023February 14, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Float with me here
Where the clouds break
Under a sky of gods
Over a storied place
Full of ancient tales
And ancient words
And ancient wisdom

That we might find a way
To breathe air long unbreathed
And know things
Long forgotten

2/25/2023 – fleeting moments

Each age is a season
Each year but an hour
The days fleeting moments

2/22/2023 – ever there

On February 22, 2023February 13, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I listen
And you call out
I watch
And you appear
I wait
And you come

2/17/2023 – come a day

On February 17, 2023February 13, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

There will come a day
When we will hear all the grasses sing
And see all the paints upon a bright world

There will come a day
When we will feel the stories underfoot
And know by name the voices on the wind

And when that day comes
I will hold you
And you me
And we will walk as stars across the sky

2/10/2023 – dawn

On February 10, 2023February 2, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Dawn breaks
And the birds awaken
And the boughs creak
‘Neath the wind

2/7/2023 – a wiser thing

On February 7, 2023February 2, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

As the last frost melts
I will harvest what grew
From the seeds
Deep in my soul
Embraced in the cold
Guided through the storms
And if the stars will it
Emerge unbitten by that frost
A wiser thing
Than I was before

2/2/2023 – grey upon grey

On February 2, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

The grey winter
Tightens its unseen grip
Silently
Wordlessly
Enveloping all around
Until such a time
As the emergence of the sun
Would go unrecognized

1/30/2023 – lightyears

On January 30, 2023January 27, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems1 Comment

Bring that brightest starlight
That it might light the way
Toward a better future

That when the stars at last can see us
They are pleased

1/27/2023 – for what do I fret

On January 27, 2023August 16, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

For what do I fret
When such riches lay at my feet?
The warmth of a fire,
The smells of a hot meal,
The noises of the beasts
And the words of a lover?

For what do I fret
When all I need, I have?

1/24/2023 – none else in the world

On January 24, 2023January 19, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I have but one desire
Alas that it is not mine to keep

For I make not the winds
Nor the streams
That will carry you

I make not the destinies
That the Fates
Have written for us

Yet still I shall hold to you
For there is none else in the world
For me
