I find myself lost
Pining after your presence
Until you come home

With fevered wanting I look in your eyes
As desp’rately I wish to hold you tight
Look now past all that makes up my disguise
My true, unfettered love is in your sight
9/27/2021 – a haiku
I find secret scars
Etched in corners of your soul
And love you yet more
Your smile
Like a seed it grows and blossoms
Like the wind it tickles my skin
Like the sun it melts my heart
Like the night, it calms my soul
8/4/2021 – when you took my heart
When you took my heart
I knew within my soul
This was cosmic art
And I would be whole.
7/22/2021 – a haiku
How blesséd am I
To be the one who’s with you
For all of my days
7/12/2021 – how hot the flames (a haiku)
The fire in my heart
Burns brightly for only one
But how hot the flames
Be still, my aching heart
I am unwhole without you
My heart beats, but for what?
My soul yearns to be ‘bout you
My essence in half, cut
As if my lifeblood quickens
When near your stolid gaze
And far from you it thickens
Confused and in a daze
So thus I must be near you
Toward you I will dart
Once more my soul will hear you
Be still, my aching heart!
Since we locked eyes
By firelight did I see your eyes
The first they locked on mine
And burrowed beneath my disguise
With clarity divine
You saw beneath the hardened shell
I’d built upon my skin
And saw into the untapped well
Of spirit trapped within
And patiently you chipped away
At walls both thick and thin
‘Til flooding in came light of day
O’er my heart’s raucous din
So since we locked eyes in the red
And flick’ring light of dying fire
E’er have I owed, my belovéd,
To you my love and my desire.
Ere dawn
Ere dawn I watch your breath
Rising and falling
Soft
Peaceful
Your eyes closed so easy
Free of the dreams of day
And I think how wondrous it would be
To kiss your cheek
Warm
Orange in the morning light
