4/27/2023 – let the shadows speak

On April 27, 2023April 26, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems1 Comment

Though oft I find I tremble for
The shadowed road ahead
Or that which on my heart so wore
And left my soul for dead

I find a solace in the night
A truth silent and free:
That if I wish to find the light
Oft I must let the shadows speak to me

4/26/2023 – the wishes of a young man

On April 26, 2023April 19, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

The seasons change, and still I want
For things that seemed so near
The wishes of a young man haunt
This older version’s ear

4/22/2023 – wasting time

On April 22, 2023April 19, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

With patience others wait upon
What life is yet to bring
I wonder what could force it on
To me time seems wasting

4/19/2023 – there I’d go with you

On April 19, 2023April 11, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems1 Comment

Upon the tallest mountain peak
Astride the greatest swell
Amidst the wood where trees can speak
And Earth can weave her spell

Find me there, find me there, find me
Where all is grand and true
Where life flits by most fervently
It’s there I’d go with you

4/15/2023 – sunlight’s burn

On April 15, 2023April 11, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Such true rewards daily I find
When to my hands I turn
Away, away from toil of mind
And into sunlight’s burn

4/13/2023 – move till day

On April 13, 2023April 11, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Come dance with me, under the moon
Where shadows come to play
I’ll hum a soft and sultry tune
And we can move till day

4/11/2023 – plastic keyboards

On April 11, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Would that I might toil ‘neath the sun
From dawn till dinner time
I never felt I was the one
To find in plastic keyboards some new rhyme

4/8/2023 – so high

On April 8, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I once oft wished for faster things

To walk upon the sky

I wish now for life without strings

My heart lifts that I do not reach so high

3/18/2023 – the brightest shards

On March 18, 2023March 13, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

In darkness do I ever find
The brightest shards of stars

3/13/2023 – not yet spring

On March 13, 2023March 13, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

The high boughs creak beneath the snow
As wind chimes in the twigs
Once more the northern reaches blow
And freeze the early sprigs
