Readily I wake
Prepared for a wondrous day
That then disappoints

She sits on me, purrs
And somehow all my troubles
Feel they’re far away

The boughs have gone bare
The ground is littered with leaves
And the wind wails high

All the world’s aflame
In the changing of seasons
Green gone brightest red

I must remember
As I dream of horizons:
I want for nothing

If I free my heart
From the shackles of my mind
Will I breathe at last?

Unburdened I walk
When I focus on the now
Deaf to the future

It is in starlight
When all is dim and gone pale
That I can see best

If I could be still
I could conquer the mountains
Calm the troubled seas
