Powerless
I have not wisdom for to change the world
Nor power for to force a change in hearts
Nor courage for to stand up to what is
What ever now can I purport to do?
Night’s gift
Gemlike droplets spread about
On ground’s green, growing grass
Glisten in the morning light
And tell of night’s cool breath
Each one, its own world, it seems;
With colors that abound
Dancing with the sway of breeze
And swirling with the light

Each day brings with it new, uncharted fears
Some ne’er-seen challenge for us to confront
As if the world were ever fighting us
Trying to have us bow before its strength
Trying to make us doubt our own.
But mind is greater than our flesh and bone
And simple tricks of earth it always sees
And so we seize the day, ignoring earth
And working t’ward the next day, and the next
Never letting earth stop us.
Have we not?
Have we not done our time?
Have we not paid our dues?
Have we not done what’s right?
Have we not?
Blind
Sometimes I feel lost
I can’t tell left from right
I don’t know where to go
I feel lost, alone, in the dark
I can’t move
I can’t breathe
Can’t speak
Can’t cry
Can’t fight
See
Smell
Touch
I’m blind
But then there is you
And there I am safe
Forever with you
Ghosts and shadows
Ghosts and shadows creep the halls
Never allowing themselves seen
They pass through the very walls
Reminding us of what had been
Metal rain
Metal rain
It comes as hellfire upon the innocent
It does not stop for umbrellas or a peeking Sun
It cannot be stopped by such simple means
Metal rain
It cracks as thunder, never expected
It falls on young, old, black, white, brown
It cares not who is under it
Metal rain
It comes quick but leaves marks
It cannot be dried up by sunlight
And it washes down the drains in red
Yours
I never knew I wanted
What I now ever have
I thought I knew the story
And how it all would go
So glad am I my life has turned
So far from my planned path
I can’t imagine different now
It’s like it’s writ in stone
And for the love who changed it all for me
I have a promise that I give to thee:
I never shall look back to then
And what I’d wished to have
For greater pow’r has brought me you
To have, and love, and hold
So I shall ever hold you
Enveloped in my arms
And you will always know, love
