My soul aches
For memories
It cannot recall
For a time
Long past
3/23/2022
I rose amidst the rays of red sunrise
And peered on the horizon to the east
There, for a moment, truth wore no disguise
And so revealed itself to me, the least
3/22/2022 – a haiku
Not a thought have I
To waste on a heart that hates
Life is hard enough
3/21/2022
Walk beside me now
Your hand in mine
That I might know you are there
Without looking
Walk beside me now
Your breath with mine
That we might be as one
Without touching
Walk beside me now
Your soul with mine
That we might be
As we always were
3/19/2022 – a haiku
I walk with two eyes
Yet when I gaze past this world
I find I am blind
3/18/2022
Let me stand upon a warmer ground
With soft earth between my toes
Grasses tickling my soles
As verdant odors fill me
3/17/2022
On fire-lit walls the shadows dance and bend
Alive for moments that the flames create
And down the walls the shadows slowly wend
As roaring flames, to embers turned, abate
3/16/2022
Little growth there is
Without an obstacle to grow over
3/15/2022 – a haiku
Let me again breathe
The free air of the mountains
Cool, quiet, and clean
3/14/2022
I have walked far
And though the shoes upon my feet
Have worn
Have changed
And though the skin upon my soles
Has calloused
Broken
Healed
And though the ground beneath me
Is everywhere different
Soft, hard
Cool, hot
Barren, verdant
The earth remains
And ever will
