The dawn sun glistens
In the delicate dewdrops
That fear its coming
7/18/2022 – where first I wondered
With a sigh and a limp I walk
By the riverside
Seeking an oak tree
I once sat under
There I pondered
And wondered
As the wind rustled the leaves
And the water rushed by
Where my own river might take me
What towns and banks
And trees
I might pass by
And now I have seen them
And known them
And seek again that oak
Where first I wondered
7/16/2022 – as the birds
The noisome crowds babble and cry
Their harsh, unceasing words
I wish I could not comprehend
And heard them as the birds
7/15/2022
I have listened
And I have seen
And I have felt
And yet the twisting boughs of this tree
Continue to elude me
7/14/2022 – a haiku
The west wind whistled
Bringing songs from a far sea
And my mind set sail
7/13/2022 – be a leaf
I would be a leaf
That I might fall every year
And each spring
Unfurl anew
7/12/2022 – ambling amidst the heavens
I have wandered often
In the streams of stars
That glow behind my eyelids
And there marveled
At the softness beneath my feet
Only found
When ambling amidst the heavens
7/11/2022 – a haiku
Often in the heat
I forget for a moment
Biting winter’s chill
Sorry that it’s late!
7/9/2022 – will I be free
If oft I turn toward the skies
To sort out what’s inside
Will I be free from others’ lies
And see the truths they hide?
7/8/2022 – for it is in sight
I climb a high hill
Knotted with shrubs
Littered with leaves
Where grasses do not grow
And at its peak I catch a glimpse
Of a bright shore
And a sparkling ocean
And I make my way there
Feet bleeding
Tears streaming
But smiling
For it is in sight
