8/23/2022 – a haiku

On August 23, 2022August 19, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

In stillness we wait
For a bright sign from without—
Might it be within?

8/22/2022 – which garden I’ll lose

On August 22, 2022August 19, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems1 Comment

I walk along a narrow road
‘Twixt equal gardens green
Each holding fruits that once I sowed
When my path was more clean

And there ahead the road does end
And somehow I must choose
In which garden I’ll so long wend
And which garden I’ll lose

8/20/2022 – far from here

On August 20, 2022August 19, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems2 Comments

Let us fly
To another place
Where the air is crisp
Where the ground is soft
Where there are few around
Where little would trouble us
And there breathe a while
And sink our toes deep
And taste the silence
That awaits us
Far from here

8/19/2022 – morning’s sweet release

On August 19, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I watch in quiet as your bones
Expand with restful breath
And hear the earthly undertones
Of breathing soft as death

I sit still so as not to wake
You from this short-lived peace
I’d not this solace from you take
Ere morning’s sweet release

8/18/2022 – a haiku

On August 18, 2022August 18, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

In ways uncounted
You have brought light to my life
Bright and bold and strong

8/17/2022 – make art for you

They say “make art for you”
Then tell you why your art
Is not good enough

8/16/2022 – to bring me peace

On August 16, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

There is no stillness
Only movement
For the universe is not a boulder
And I not a stone

The cosmos breathe
As I breathe
And though in breath
I find stillness
It is but a movement
To bring me peace

8/15/2022 – a haiku

My temper rises

At the evils of others

But nature beckons

8/13/2022 – for just a while

On August 13, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

For when I lose my way and tire
Of this world’s cruel designs
I lay my head upon your lap
And so at last can rest for just a while

8/12/2022

Laid to rest

By the apple tree

Where you ran and played

Now you lie

And make the flowers grow
