The autumn breeze
Cools my skin
Opens my nostrils
Carries with it
The songs of a thousand beings
That wait patiently
For what comes
9/13/2022
It is with solemn gladness that
I walk into the fog
And wonder at what lies beyond
What myst’ries I might see
9/12/2022 – a haiku
Let us settle in
And listen to the crickets
Chirping in the night
9/11/2022 – a note to my followers
I saw recently that daily-poem.com has surpassed 200 followers! Thank you to all who read and enjoy what I write. It gladdens me that so many of you have listened and read.
A brief note: I received a message (tragically gone unread for years) asking whether a poem posted here could be read at a wedding, and wanted to declare unequivocally that my poetry is for all. So long as no one is profiting from my words or portraying them as one’s own, I encourage and appreciate their being spread far and wide.
To you and yours.

9/10/2022 – that niggling thought
I can’t but doubt that my footfalls
Will stand the test of time
Will hold up ‘neath the summer squalls
And with the hist’ries rhyme
And yet there is that niggling thought
Within the crowded mind:
That one man’s struggles really ought
Not live when he has slipped his earthly bind.
9/9/2022 – a haiku
At last the air cools
As nature’s babes grow taller
Wary of the fall
9/8/2022 – with you by my side
Let it be said of me
That I walked with purpose
Loved with abandon
Delved recklessly
Learned much
And learned yet more
Let it be said of me
That I lived
Fearlessly and fully
With you by my side
Better late than never, right? Better yet: I didn’t give you a poem yesterday, so you get two today!
9/7/2022 – when first you stepped there
In your footprints I step
Wondering
If the ground felt the same
When first you stepped there
9/6/2022 – a haiku
Here at the world’s edge
We peer off t’ward the unknown
Our eye-fires kindling
9/5/2022 – that of strings
I hear the distant sounds of bright
Machines of earthly hand
At all hours of the quiet night
My focus sounds demand
I wish for chirping crickets then
Instead of crashing things
For music made by careless men
Pales next to that of strings
