9/26/2022 – man untied

On September 26, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

As love surrounds me so does hate
Pervade the world outside
May close-held love alleviate
The worst of man untied

9/24/2022 – greater

On September 24, 2022September 15, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I want but to rest
To turn my back on the world
And its trappings
And its failings
And its wantings

And wrap my arms around this thing
So whole
So true
So warm

And so much greater
Than anything behind me

9/23/2022 – a haiku

Lying beside you
Gazing at stars old and new
Who could wish for more?

9/22/2022 – a mess

The poets praise his godly looks
The merchants, his largesse
Politickers, his love for books

He looks to me a mess.

9/21/2022 – the new beginning

On September 21, 2022September 15, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Ash in the air
From a fire burning
Many miles past the horizon

Falls in my vision
Dust of the world

I can smell the ending

But so too can I sense
The new beginning

Just walk beside me
Here at the seasons’ turning
Let me hold to you

With gladness did I wake today
Amidst these trappings old

9/17/2022 – not yet uncovered

On September 17, 2022September 15, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Walk with me
In places new
Where we might find
Truths not yet uncovered
By anyone else
Who might walk
There

9/16/2022 – bereft of light

On September 16, 2022September 15, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

A starlit forest glowing bright
Beneath the heavens’ gaze
Soothes quick my heart, bereft of light
Until I saw its rays

9/15/2022 – a haiku

On September 15, 2022September 15, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I can smell a change
A turning writ on the wind
I turn, and follow
