11/11/2022 – give me a story

On November 11, 2022November 9, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I want for legends like of old
Heroes defying all
And hidden tales as yet untold
Beyond the future’s wall

11/10/2022 – a haiku

On November 10, 2022November 9, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

The last autumn warmth
Diminishes like the sun
Dipping west to sleep

11/9/2022 – they were lies

On November 9, 2022November 2, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I woke in sweat with visions of
Shadows before my eyes
And only you could hold me then
And tell me they were lies

11/8/2022 – nurture it

On November 8, 2022November 2, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

A breath
Is the fire
That burns against the cold

A salve
Is the rain
That comes amidst the drought

Salvation
Is the green
That sprouts from winter’s melt

If only I can nurture it

You shift closer yet
Your skin touches mine; my heart
Quickens, unbidden

11/5/2022 – a bright-colored lie

On November 5, 2022November 2, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

A bright-colored lie
Is the sun on winter’s day

11/4/2022 – a haiku

On November 4, 2022November 2, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Quick blows winter’s wind
Taking the colors with it
Leaving the stillness

11/3/2022 – left me

On November 3, 2022November 2, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

With the sun so high
I could hardly see
The shadow walking
Under me

And in the light
The dark did hide
Though it was always
There beside

I wondered what
Became of it
When nighttime came
The bright sun set

But when came the morn
The shadow sprung
From night’s embrace
There by me hung

It was a comfort,
To tell truly
To know it never
Left me

11/2/2022 – solace

On November 2, 2022October 26, 2022 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I peered into the Reaper’s eyes
And saw amidst the grey
The truth against a world of lies:
That with him solace lay

Give me pen and pad
Let me make with them a world
Like none before seen
