Bring me a mountain
Lined with rivers and green trees
What a place to lie
12/15/2022 – frozen dew
Gleaming dewdrops
Frozen by December’s chill
Sparkling under the sunrise
In the briefest moment
Before they return
To the earth
12/14/2022 – want for warmth
In winters long and ever chilled
I long for sunlight’s heat
On some beach sandcastles I’ll build
In sand bury my feet
12/13/2022 – a haiku
All’s clearer in snow
As the creatures move slower
And each sound flies far
12/12/2022 – we have not yet tread upon it
Let us go
Into the forest
And look not at the trail
But follow the branches
And the leaves
And the speckled sunlight
That peeks through the canopy
Let us go
Out to sea
And look not to the shoreline
But follow the gulls
And the waves
And the sparkling stars
As they break the night’s veil
Let us go
Along a road
Unknown
Only for that we have not yet tread upon it
12/10/2022 – a haiku
Return to my arms
That I might fill them with you
Still this aching heart
12/9/2022 – a fire am I
A fire am I
Not still
Not cool
Not waiting
But fluid
Full of heat
Destroying and creating
From the dead of the world
I make what has not been seen before
And in the briefest moment
After too many breaths
It disappears
But I remain
Fire
12/8/2022 – the color of your eyes
A forest when they sparkle
Beneath the midday sun
A deepness without measure
After the night has come
12/7/2022 – a haiku
Winter’s wind returns
Let it not now chill my heart
But die at the gates
12/6/2022
It is in heartache
That I create
