3/8/2023 – unwooded heart

On March 8, 2023March 2, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Beneath the snow-covered boughs
I hear a whisper
From the snow
From the canopy
From the wind
From the gnarled, unmoving bark
It tells of a quieter truth
A quieter life
Hard, but slow
Chaotic, but steady
Cold, but full of life

That I might hear that story
And hold it in my unwooded heart

3/7/2023 – a haiku

On March 7, 2023March 2, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Cozy up closer
So I can hear your heart beat
And study its song

3/6/2023 – hide within

On March 6, 2023March 2, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Let’s sink beneath the azure waves
And by the turtles swim
There where a quiet music plays
That I might hide within

3/4/2023 – a haiku

On March 4, 2023March 2, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Step to the music
And I will follow your lead
My cheek beside yours

3/3/2023 – dancing

The earth quickens
I feel her beneath my toes

Breathing
Awakening
Warming
Shifting

Dancing

3/2/2023 – they all lay bare

On March 2, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I have but one heart for to give
One soul to join a pair
One body that by yours can live
For you they all lay bare

3/1/2023 – a haiku

New tales are woven
Each moment the thread is held
Whether good or ill

2/28/2023 – long forgotten

On February 28, 2023February 14, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Float with me here
Where the clouds break
Under a sky of gods
Over a storied place
Full of ancient tales
And ancient words
And ancient wisdom

That we might find a way
To breathe air long unbreathed
And know things
Long forgotten

2/27/2023 – not undone

On February 27, 2023February 14, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems1 Comment

It was amidst the broken snow
Beneath the new spring sun
As brown and green began to grow
And melt began to run

There did I find the seed we’d sown
So careful in the soil
Gone bright and lively, not undone
By winter’s frozen toil

2/25/2023 – fleeting moments

Each age is a season
Each year but an hour
The days fleeting moments
