8/18/2023 – forest bath

On August 18, 2023August 16, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Amid the creeping boughs of cedar trees
I find a shadowed place to rest my head
Where verdant fragrances traverse the breeze
And mossy roots and vines make me a bed

8/17/2023 – a haiku

On August 17, 2023August 16, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

A thousand seeds sprout
And a thousand vines grow high
Bringing naught but gifts

8/16/2023 – lying in wait

On August 16, 2023August 9, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Such color in the earth
All shades of brown lie there
Each life and death and in between
Each telling countless stories true
Each with the world’s potential stored
Within each smallest part of them

Lying in wait

8/15/2023 – rhyme

On August 15, 2023August 9, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

A rhyme is when two things collide
And in their hearts agree
That close together they reside
Upon the same bright sea
That in their essence is the same
Light shining ev’ry way
So much they share, share all but name,
That ‘like they are, we say
For this I cannot but conclude
That when it comes to me
Naught else, I think, could be construed
Than that I rhyme with thee

8/14/2023 – a haiku

On August 14, 2023August 9, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short Poems1 Comment

The leaves are rustling
Listen closely to their words
They tell Earth’s secrets

8/12/2023 – creeks in a storm

On August 12, 2023August 9, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I hunger for
A meaning
I hunger for
That filling up
Of me
That electric truth
That rides along
Every artery
Like a million creeks
In a storm

8/11/2023 – solemn and low

On August 11, 2023August 9, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems1 Comment

In drizzling rain I feel the mud
Squeezing between my toes
The thunder rumbles overhead
And drops run down my nose
Such music as the atmosphere
Casts to the world below
Is more than I could write or sing
Notes solemn, and so low

8/10/2023 – a haiku

On August 10, 2023August 9, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

A flower opens
Gives color to all the world
And asks for nothing

8/9/2023 – with you

On August 9, 2023August 3, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems1 Comment

A moment
Is the briefest second
When I gaze in your eyes
Yet a moment
Is a long lifetime
When I wish it to be
A happy lifetime
With you

8/8/2023 – treasure

On August 8, 2023August 3, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

If I could walk beside you e’er
I’d do it without thought
For you are like the very air
Treasure that can’t be bought
