On October 4, 2023September 29, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Run with me away to there:
Where we are true and free
Where we can breathe the lightest air
And simply start to be

10/3/2023 – wind of autumn

On October 3, 2023September 29, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Whispering
It comes
Rises through the trees
To a roar
Brings a chill
Deep to my bones
Brings a promise
Of ice

Her ribs rise softly
Her whiskers glint in the sun
She purrs in a dream

9/30/2023 – book

On September 30, 2023September 29, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

It is empty
It is quiet
It does not speak
It does not move
But gaze upon it
It is full
It is loud
It sings symphonies
It pulls you places
Put it down
Naught but paper

9/29/2023 – leaves

Their shadows dance along the ground
As to and fro they sway
And ‘cross the grass without a sound
They walk throughout the day

The world in color

As life goes quiet a while

And the winds grow cold

9/27/2023 – the glade

On September 27, 2023September 20, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

The mosses grow and vines creep in
And all perfections fade
To beauty of the true and flawed
The simple rightness of a forest glade

9/26/2023 – become

On September 26, 2023September 20, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I could change the world
I could shake foundations
I could break and trample
I could set fires

But what would I become?

9/25/2023 – a haiku

My heart yearns for more
Some foundation to build on
A story to tell

9/23/2023 – not by us

On September 23, 2023September 20, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

The earth below breathes
Rumbles
Sputters
Trembles

The earth below speaks
Through the air
Through the grasses
Through the trees

The earth below is heard
By the animals
By the winds
By the oceans

But not by us
