I would
Walk
Run
Swim
Fly
Jump
Die
With you

11/7/2023 – what is become of the world

On November 7, 2023October 31, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Humdrum and half-baked, life-bereft
A stopped song, canvas set to flame

11/6/2023 – a haiku

Readily I wake
Prepared for a wondrous day
That then disappoints

11/4/2023 – at odds

On November 4, 2023October 31, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

My mind and body seem to be at odds
They make me question if they’re truly one

11/3/2023 – wintersong

On November 3, 2023October 31, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

The days shorten
As the sun grows distant
And the noises of a frozen earth
Begin their earthen symphony
Rustling
Cracking
Dripping
Howling
And I listen
As I slow
Until year’s dawn

11/2/2023 – a haiku

She sits on me, purrs
And somehow all my troubles
Feel they’re far away

11/1/2023 – none/overmuch

On November 1, 2023October 24, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I write and write and write and write
And wonder at the endless white
Of canvasses I’ve yet to touch
When it still feels I’ve written overmuch

10/31/2023 – nature web

The bird sings to me
As it sings to the tree
The tree, which holds the bird
The bird flys by me
As it flies by the squirrel
The squirrel, which plants
The tree, which holds the bird
The bird eats a worm
As it eats of the seeds
The seeds I have left for it
In hopes that it will sing to me
As it sings to the tree

10/30/2023 – a haiku

On October 30, 2023October 24, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

The boughs have gone bare
The ground is littered with leaves
And the wind wails high

10/28/2023 – in between

On October 28, 2023October 24, 2023 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Shadows threaten
They stand at the gates
They whisper through the windows
They mock and jeer
Must I listen?
Must I submit?
Or must I learn not to hear?

Or is there an in between?
