The frozen earth sings
Of spring stories yet to come
That it will make true
11/18/2023 – not be there
I lived a thousand lives before
You walked into this last of them
For how could I return once more
If you would not be there?
11/17/2023 – to the garden
Let your body rest in the cool
Eat not of the frozen air
Wake not for the winter birds
Stir not for the dormant seeds
Lie still till the sun returns
And the snow restores you
And whispers of green float on the wind
11/16/2023 – a haiku
When the sky goes grey
I say the day’s beautiful
And then it is so
11/15/2023 – wanting
Hunger takes me
Of a different kind
Than that sated by food
Thirst arrests me
Of a different kind
Than that quenched by drink
Pain wracks me
Of a different kind
Than that quieted by salves
11/14/2023 – full and glad
I wish for little more than that
Your heart be full and glad
11/13/2023 – a haiku
Wander together
That if you find some wisdom
It grows to be shared
11/11/2023 – pure and true
As the winter wind blows and I walk in its breath
And my fingers and toes lose the warmth of my blood
Oft I suddenly feel that the world is in line
That the things I am seeing are beauty, of form pure and true
11/10/2023 – all that’s bright and green
I hunger for another world
Where all that’s bright and green
Is cherished only for its sake
And not the human bounty it could mean
11/9/2023 – a haiku
The bright colors fade
And the sun retreats from view
As icy wind blows
