Memory rhyming

On March 11, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I’ve often dwelt in thoughts of other times
Of other places, far away from here
Of moments distant, yet so very near
And there, my memory begins to rhyme

3/10/2021 – a haiku

On March 10, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Why choose cruelty
When sharing kind words, a smile
Is much easier?

Like the trees

On March 9, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

I want to be like the trees
Blown about, they stand
Roots deep
Branches reach wide
Wind whistling through

In all seasons they stand tall
Each year they grow
Change
Evolve

I want to be like the trees

3/8/2021 – Happy spring!

On March 8, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems1 Comment

The sun is shining bright
With warm and heav’nly light
All I can do is lift my arms and breathe

The damp air smells of green
The sky is clearest blue
And at long last the winter’s chill recedes

The works of humankind

On March 6, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Let none who list’n to music grand—
And none who love to read—
And none who gaze on paintings fine—
And none who clap for dance—

Let not one of them look upon
The works of humankind
And tell you that a man cannot
Move mountains with his hands.

Married to mundane

On March 5, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Without a sound

With peaceful calm

The conscious shifts beyond this mortal plane

That life is true

As so is this

Celestial marriéd to mundane

3/4/2021 – Itching to create

On March 4, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Haikus, Short Poems1 Comment

My fingers reach now
For strings to pluck, keys to play
Itching to create

3/3/2021 – Your smile

On March 3, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short Poems1 Comment

I walked without a sound
Went down a lonely street
And who there should I meet
But you

I quieted my lips
I opened up my ear
So better could I hear
Your voice

And though it’s been a while
You are beside me yet
With Fate I’ve won a bet
So ev’ry day I get to see your smile

3/2/2021 – Stories

On March 2, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

For what do fantasies and tales
Exist, their characters and songs
Persist, if not to fill us all
With harmonies and histories and joyful music playing in our minds?

Alive once more

On March 1, 2021 By adamcallahan117In Free Verse, Short PoemsLeave a comment

Wind howls and bites
The ground is icy cold
There is little green
And all slumbers

But life flickers
The sun smiles
Buds peek
Ice melts

The world is set to come alive once more
