Tonight I held you
And gazed deep into your eyes—
An evening well-spent
Tonight I held you
And gazed deep into your eyes—
An evening well-spent
For what do we so often pine
When we gaze at th’horizon line?
O, hie ye quick to safer shores
Away from those with evil mores
Those who would snap up all the earth
Then deign complain o’er lack of mirth
Hurried wanderers bereft of coin
With naught but tales and stories for to tell
They are the movers of thought
Sitting by a fire
Listening to waves roll in
Holding your hand tight
A distant world comes to mind
Teeming with life and love
And as it gains form
The one around dissipates
Along with all its cruelty
For a time
Though oft I do despair
For want of freer air
I cannot but be awed at my good luck
For when I could not see
I set my heart to thee
And no longer could chaos run amok
When I did walk alone
My heart hard as a stone
Ne’er could I have imagined such a fate
As to be bound to you
A bond so right and true
That all the shadows in my mind abate
Winds swirl wildly now
While the rest of the world sleeps
The earth is writhing
Though my breath be high
May I find peace in the wind
And let go of fear
What wisdom hath man,
He who destroys so?
