I won’t cut grasses
For that which grows between them
May bloom brightly yet

Summer trees reach out
Seeking out more and more sun
Taken from the ground

In shreds of my art

Do the world’s shadows fester

Telling me to stop

Twice in one week I owe you two poems!

There is a waking
In my soul’s deepest places
I yearn for the stars

I owe you two today.

Hold me in the dark
With the shadows closing in
Let me see your light

Fire burns within me
Forming a song I don’t know
But will come to know

On Mondays I wish

For something better to come

In the days ahead

A fast-rising wind
Blows quick across the landscape
And all comes alive

I find it vexing:
Even over a cursed day
Bright is the sunrise

Bring the horizon
Pull it to you if you must
And look beyond it
