Her ribs rise softly
Her whiskers glint in the sun
She purrs in a dream

The world in color

As life goes quiet a while

And the winds grow cold

My heart yearns for more
Some foundation to build on
A story to tell

The waves rise and break
While the sands roil within them
Perfect harmony

I have not a thought
For mankind’s edifices:
All but grains of sand

Waves lap at the shore
Whispering of adventure
A wide world beyond

Give me to the sea
That I might learn its secrets
And lie in wonder

Let us not labor
But build together a world
We can be proud of

I am e’er troubled
By time passing while I sit
Idle and inert
