Though it’s often slow
To build a strong foundation
Is to build quite well
Though it’s often slow
To build a strong foundation
Is to build quite well
When the rain patters
You’ll find me in my armchair
With a book in hand
And when I do dream
I dream of distant places
And live other lives
Oft I write haiku
When I know not what to do
This I know is true
The sky’s dappled blue
With grey clouds the sun peeks through
As the day brightens
My thoughts spin again
My head swirls and battles rage
I long for slowness
Earth, plants, and water
They are more than building blocks
They give life itself
Looking up at stars
Wond’ring what secrets they hold
What stories they’ve seen
A brisk wind blowing
The sun shining on green buds
Life returns at last
My eyes are drooping
And my thoughts spin round and round
Time for bed, methinks
